Is this on? – 001
This week I'm talking about going back to Youtube, reading short books, watching great TV and moving to Mastodon.
Hey,
Let’s get this started. This is the first official instalment of my newsletter. If you are new here, you might want to check the first issue and maybe subscribe? I’ll leave that to you.
For now, let’s focus. As I’ve said, this is pretty much an experiment, another place for me to share what I like and to be honest, a safe space to be at while the world is burning.
I’m not the best at keeping things consistent, but I am going to take this one day (or week) at a time, and see where it goes.
Writing here, in this corner of the internet with a group of like-minded people, already feel like a good start. So, who knows?
Anyway, here are the things I’m obsessed with this week.
What made me say QUE?!
Adding artificial intelligence to Notion
I am still not 100% sure of AI – I guess I’m using it without being aware, but until now it just seemed like a buzzword. However, Notion just announced the integration of AI in their platform, and it just blew my mind.
You literally type the title of a blog post, for instance, and Notion AI takes care of the rest. Or use translation tools to change the language of an entire text. And as a non-native English speaker, this sounds like a dream.
I’m still not sure about some AI uses, but if this will improve my life, I’m in!

To my wish-list
My wish lists are what best defines me. From silly toys, to expensive shoes. Every week I find something I need to add to my list of things I will (probably) never buy and (definitely) no one will buy for me. But that’s no excuse – they still deserve to be there.
Bellroy Venture Sling 10L (Camera Edition)
Cross-body sling
For my upcoming trip to Japan, I’ve been looking for comfortable travel bags I can carry every day, that also fit my camera (and other small objects) comfortably.
Bellroy is one of these brands that I admire and always end up at. True, their products are a bit too expensive for my budget (this bag is €189) but the quality of the materials and the thinking behind each product is remarkable!
I won’t probably end up buying this bag (unless, Christmas?) but it deserves a place in my wish-list.
Watching
The Sex Lives of College Girls
Yes, yes, yes! They are back! One of my favourite shows from 2021 is back with season 2. The first two episodes just dropped on HBO Max, and it is as hilarious as season 1. Sex, college life, shirtless hot men and basically everything I didn’t experience when I was 18 ✌🏻
From the brilliant mind of Mindy Kaling.
Reading
I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately. However, my TBR list keeps growing.
So, in my effort to get over it, I’m taking small books that I know I will enjoy – I do have a type. So here are a couple of books I’ve read lately.
Notes on Grief by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
I can read anything by Chimamanda. And I know I’ve just said I was looking for short books, but I wouldn’t have minded this to be a bit longer.
The way she writes about the emptiness of losing someone you love, the impotence of not being there and the frustration of the “what-ifs” is truly heartbreaking. But there is always something about her books that brings me hope. And that is the sign of an amazing talent.
Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata
I’m trying to do an immersion into a culture I don’t know too much about, and books like this making feel weird and curious at the same time.
This is the story of someone who’s never fit in and whose sole purpose in life revolves around her work in a convenience store. But also a look into what “work culture” is and how much pressure we all feel to fit inside society rules – whatever these are.

Are you thinking about moving from Twitter to Mastodon, but you don’t know anyone there? Is this New Year’s Eve 2018 all over again, when your best friend invited to a party where you didn’t know anyone, and she ended up not going?
Here’s your solution!
Find who is on Mastodon based on who you follow on Twitter with Debirdify.
Work and projects
I can’t always talk about my work, but there’s always something I can share.
Quick timeline: about a year ago, I started my YouTube channel and stopped publishing in March to focus on creating my first online class (now on Skillshare).
So it just made sense to go back to my channel talking about this class.
And this is it for this one. Not bad for a first time.

See you in a week *fingers crossed*
