Four weeks away, how? – 003
Design community and free resources, beautiful objects, going back to anime, award-winning projects and some thought about reading.
Hey there,
It’s beginning to look a lot like ChrNO! STOP! I’M NOT READY. It’s the same every year. My mind is still in April, and we are 20 days away from Christmas.
How is this even possible?
I’m going to ignore that this is happening. I don’t want to think about what I’ve done this year, or start writing resolutions for 2023. I’m going to give myself a couple of weeks – because it’s literally all I have – before I start doing recaps and thinking ahead.
Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy the holidays, and I love watching hours and hours of girls in clean spaces doing their “life admin days” or “align your year challenges”. They just give me a bit of anxiety because I have a dirty post-it note with new year resolutions that I haven’t completed. But isn’t that fun, too? Isn’t it just more realistic? I hope so.
In any case, it’s December 4th. Let’s have at least one week before the holidays craziness enters my life.
Let’s see what’s happened this week.
What made me say QUE?!
Designer Community 2.0
I WON SOMETHING! I think it’s one of the first times in my life that I win a competition. I know I didn’t have to do much, and I wasn’t tested in any way, but still.
10x Designer is a designer community by Fons Mans, the person behind those nice gradient visuals you can’t stop seeing in your Twitter feed. I still haven’t been able to take the most advantage from all the features, but from all the design communities I’m in, this has to be in the top for most active.
From discussions, to tutorials from Fons Mans himself, it is buzzing all the day with valuable content.
To be fully honest with you, I was a bit hesitant about paying the membership to get access. But since I’m already in, I can say it is, at least, worth to try.
To my wish-list
Beautiful Objects for Happy Homes
Another brand I fall in love with? Sure, why not! But the thing is, it’s not just one brand. It’s 6 in 1! And each one more stunning and curated than the previous one.
Patter Brands is a “family of brands with the shared mission of enjoying daily life”, and as far as I can see, creating the most beautiful objects. What are the brands, you ask?
We have Open Spaces for home organization, Onsen for towels, GIR for cookware, YIELD for tableware, Poketo for Stationery & Letterfolk for home customisation
My favourites are the Entryway Rack by OpenSpaces:
And the Yield French Press & Double Wall Glasses.
Check their website to see the full extent of their catalogue, throughout the brands.
Watching
I think this is the first time I’m watching an anime since I was a teenager. And maybe it’s the aesthetic, the intro song, the cute girl or the easy plot but I’m enjoying this one so much. And apparently, it’s a big hit in Japan, so at least I’ll be familiar with it when I travel there in a few weeks.
As a quick summary, a spy has to find himself a wife and a daughter in order to save the world. That’s it, pretty much.
Reading
This week: a thought I want to share with you.
This year, I had the challenge of reading 30 books. I did this to myself. And although I’ve read over 30 books so far, I’m not proud of it, and I’m not going to repeat this challenge next year. Actually, I won’t have a reading challenge at all?
I love reading, and I have the habit of doing it. So what this challenge has done to me, is that I’ve gone for shorter and quicker books, just to finish them earlier, rather than taking the time to enjoy a long story, if I wanted too.
That doesn’t mean I haven’t read good books, but still, I’ve constraint myself because of this. I don’t have anything to recommend this week, just this thought and a question:
What’s your view on reading challenges? Do you have a yearly number you want to achieve? Have you achieved it?
I’ll be reading your answers.

It’s Mans again, I apologise. But I swear, this guy doesn’t stop giving. So I need to mention him again.
In partnership with Framer, they are doing 24 days of design gifts. So far, they’ve given discount on an annual plan for Campsite & Sketch and a free typeface by Pangram. You still have time to enjoy most of the gifts. So hurry up and subscribe!
Work and projects
This week I was so happy to discover, a project I worked on got @FWA of the Day. The project is the Nike Kids: Lil Mbappé Chatbot, created by Unit9 in partnership with Nike, in which I helped with the User Experience for the Spanish version.
It wasn’t a huge participation, let’s be honest. But still, I’m quite happy for the team.
That’s it for this week. See you next time!
